PRESIDENCE DE LA REPUBLIQUE – ABIDJAN LEGACY PROGRAM

Abidjan Legacy Program (ALP) was launched during the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP 15), held in Abidjan from May 9 to 20, 2022. This ambitious program aims to restore degraded ecosystems, significantly boost agricultural production, and improve the living conditions of rural populations, with a particular focus on youth and women. ALP is a national priority, endorsed by the Head of State. Its implementation is expected to deliver major impacts by addressing deforestation, restoring forests and degraded lands, enhancing soil productivity, strengthening existing value chains, and identifying those of the future.

Ecosystem Restoration and Agroforestry Support

ALP provides a strategic framework for restoring degraded ecosystems and advancing sustainable agroforestry in Africa, with a focus on Côte d’Ivoire. It helps mobilise financial resources and build multisectoral partnerships, while strengthening local capacities, particularly for youth and women—to create green jobs and foster social inclusion. ALP also supports informed policymaking and the adoption of innovative solutions, amplifying AfroGrow’s impact on climate resilience, food security, and socio-economic development across the continent.
